Eight Marketplaces, One Hunt

Botifex now watches eight U.S. marketplaces from one workspace: Craigslist, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, and Whatnot.

Local classifieds for pickup. eBay for national comps and auctions. Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp for same-day furniture and tools. Poshmark, Mercari, and Depop for apparel. Whatnot for the collectibles and live-commerce shop inventory that never shows up in a Craigslist sofa hunt.

On August 15 we published a progress report on rebuilding every Botifex scraper. Depop and Whatnot were the two sources still missing from that program. Both are live as of August 23, 2026. This is not a bookmark to whatnot.com. It runs on the same monitoring foundation: keyword and price filters, newest coverage, and alerts when a listing matches a hunt you already named.

If you already run hunts, you do not learn a new product. You add a source. Open the dashboard, enable Whatnot, keep the keywords you already trust. Matches land in the same feed, with the same score, next to everything else you are watching.

Whatnot Is Not Another Fashion App

Depop is closets. Whatnot is shows and shop listings. The seller base is built around collectibles: sports cards, Pokémon, sneakers, electronics, toys, comics, and the odd lot that would never survive a Poshmark category tree.

A lot of that inventory is still priced like a livestream leftover. Sellers move a box, a break remainder, or a pair they pulled from a case. They photograph on a table. They guess at the ask. Buy It Now shop listings are the ones you can actually hunt with a keyword and a max buy — the same way you hunt eBay and Mercari.

The overlap is the other reason Whatnot belongs in the stack. The same Dunk can hit eBay at 7:40, Mercari at 7:48, and Whatnot shop at 7:51 — or only Whatnot, because that seller lives in the app and nowhere else. If your monitor stops at eBay and Mercari, you are sourcing collectibles with a hole in it.

Native Whatnot notifications exist for follows and shows. They are built for a shopper in a livestream, not a reseller with a max buy, a fee model, and seven other tabs open. They do not SMS you. They do not attach an eBay sold range. They do not sit in inventory after you buy. That is the job of a reselling workspace.

What We Watch — and What We Don't

Honesty matters here, because Whatnot is famous for live shows. Botifex is not sitting in the livestream bidding against a host's giveaway timer. That is a different product, and we are not going to sell it as this one.

What shipped is monitoring for Buy It Now shop listings — fixed-price product posts in Whatnot search that behave like a Mercari or eBay BIN: a title, a price, a photo, a link you can open and buy. Live auctions, giveaways, and ended or sold listings are skipped so your feed is not a graveyard of shows you already missed.

That is the hunt that belongs in Botifex. A stable ask. A keyword. A max buy. An alert. A deal score. If you want to sit in a two-hour card break, open Whatnot for that. If you want the shop tab watched while you source the rest of the internet, that is what this toggle is for.

What You Get When Whatnot Is On

A Whatnot hunt uses the same controls as every other Botifex source.

• Keywords and price bands — the terms and max buy you already use on eBay and Mercari.
• Newest Buy It Now listings — Botifex watches fresh shop results, not a stale browse page you remembered to open.
• Alerts where you already get them — dashboard, email, SMS, and push, on the same cadence as your plan.
• Deal Score on the match — triage before you tap through. Cheap is not the same thing as a deal.
• One feed with the rest of your hunts — Whatnot does not live in a separate collectibles silo.

After you buy, the rest of the loop is unchanged. Log the SKU in inventory, research comps if you need a second look, list it back out on the channels that actually clear that category. Find is not a separate product from List and Track. That is the point of the platform direction we named on July 31.

Who Should Turn It On Today

If you already hunt eBay or Mercari for cards, sneakers, electronics, or toys, turn Whatnot on this week. You are already in the categories Whatnot is strong in. The incremental coverage is the point.

If you flip sports cards, Pokémon, sealed product, or sneakers, Whatnot is not optional. A monitor that skips the shop tab is a self-imposed delay.

If you are a local furniture and tools operator, or a fashion-only Depop/Poshmark seller, you can leave Whatnot off. The toggle is a source, not a new religion. Do not add noise to a hunt that has no business on Whatnot.

If you are on Free or Basic after trial, Whatnot is a Pro and Ultra source — the same tiering as Poshmark, Mercari, and Depop. The 7-day Pro trial still includes all eight marketplaces, so you can prove the channel before you pay for it.

How to Start a Whatnot Hunt

You do not need a new account or a new workflow.

• Log in and open your dashboard.
• On the hunt monitors, enable Whatnot. Pro and Ultra can run it; Free and Basic see the upgrade path.
• Use the keywords and price range you already trust — set + player, brand + model, not a vague "cards" that will flood the feed.
• Confirm alerts (email, SMS, push) are on for the hunts you care about.
• Let it run. The first useful ping is the test, not a settings tour.

Treat the first week as calibration. If the feed is noisy, tighten keywords and the max buy. If it is quiet, you are probably over-filtering an app that titles casually. "Prizm Luka PSA 10" will miss "luka doncic prizm psa". Brand or player + product, then price, is usually the better first pass.

What This Does Not Change

This is a new source, not a new Botifex. Your existing hunts keep running. Your inventory, Vision research, listing tools, and profit tracking do not get a new setup wizard.

We are not going to publish how the Whatnot monitor is built. Marketplace monitoring is a competitive advantage, and public teardowns go stale the week a site changes. You will see the outcome: Whatnot Buy It Now listings in the feed, with the same quality bar we are holding across every scraper.

Coverage will keep moving because Whatnot will keep moving. That is normal. The August 15 scraper program was about recovery and quality, not a claim that the public web stops changing. If a hunt looks quiet, check the monitor status and your keywords before you assume the marketplace is empty.
